Description
TITANIC: 100 Scenes follows the story of the RMS Titanic through one hundred illustrated scenes, from the first plans drawn in Belfast to the aftermath of the disaster.
The journey begins in a Belfast drawing office, when the ship still exists only as lines on paper. From there, the story moves through construction on the slipway, preparations for departure, and the luggage waiting on the quay at Southampton.
Across 100 carefully structured scenes, the book explores both the ship and the people aboard her. Readers enter passenger cabins and travel below decks, where meals are prepared, letters are sorted, engines are maintained, and boilers are fed. Before the disaster, Titanic is shown as a working ship with ordinary routines, responsibilities, conversations, and lives unfolding at sea.
Then the ice changes everything.
The narrative continues through the collision, sinking, rescue, and the questions that followed on shore. Six reproduced newspaper front pages preserve some of the earliest reports of the disaster, including mistakes published before the full facts were known.
Maps, a detailed chronology, and source notes help place the events of the voyage in context. Newly created historical illustrations accompany the narrative and are clearly distinguished from reproduced original documents.
Rather than focusing only on Titanic’s final hours, this illustrated history also gives attention to the people who designed, built, operated, and maintained the ship — and to the ordinary days at sea that came before the last night.
A richly illustrated Titanic history book for readers fascinated by maritime history, historical disasters, shipbuilding, and the human stories behind one of the most studied voyages of the twentieth century.
